How much do psychological services cost?
Fees for psychological services vary depending on the type of service provided. We follow the fee guidelines set by the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta. Please contact our office for our current rates.
Are fees covered by provincial health care?
In most provinces, psychological services provided in private practice are not covered by provincial health insurance plans such as Alberta Health Services.
Why do fees vary between practitioners?
Fees may differ due to practitioners’ qualifications, experience, and the type of services offered (e.g., individual therapy, assessments, couples therapy). Some specialized services, such as psychoeducational assessments and reading intervention, have set package rates.
Direct Billing and Insurance
Do you offer direct billing to insurance companies?
No we do not offer direct billing to extended health benefit providers, however, if your plan covers psychological services, we will provide receipts for submission for reimbursement. Payment for sessions is due at the time of service. We accept major credit cards, e-transfer, and cash.
Will my insurance cover the full cost?
Coverage varies by plan. Some plans cover a percentage of the session fee (e.g., 80%), while others have an annual dollar limit. Please check your benefits booklet or contact your insurer for details about your coverage and annual maximums per family member.
Can I claim psychological services as a medical expense on my taxes?
Yes, psychological services provided by a licensed psychologist are recognized as a medical expense by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). You may claim eligible fees on your annual income tax return. Always keep your receipts for your records.
Booking and Payment Information
How do I book an appointment?
To book an appointment, please contact our office by phone, email, or through our online booking portal. We recommend verifying your insurance coverage prior to your first session.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or appointment changes. Missed appointments or late cancellations may be subject to a fee.
